A Daughter's Farewell Poem by Patricia Denise Newman

A Daughter's Farewell

Oh mother dearest now you are gone
And I am left here to carry on
Oh how I miss your smiling face
Your gentle voice and warm embrace
You've taught me how to cook and sew
And everything a girl should know
But somehow as the years flew by
You never taught me to say goodbye
And sad to say that time is here
And I am lost with you not near
