At some stage of life everyone has to cross such a lonely state of mind due to bad luck and problems....we do need a shoulder to lean and share our sorrow.....but this phase of life gives a huge space for us to introspect too...

Susan you make me feel important....! Of course it is a nice feeling! But I genuinely wonder if I deserve so much! You are great enough to make others feel great! It is a quality many lack....! You have a wonderful way of expression, inimitable and unique! Thank you sweet friend!

You have captured the man's loneliness and desolation in saturated poignancy. Great imagery too in the narrative. (10)

Someone must express a friendly word. Let no one feel lonely in the world. The poem brings a real problem to light.

Beautiful and compassionate. Lonliness is a curse that grips so many of us today. It catches us ofguard to spread like a dark cloud. I salute a heart that cries for it and does something to show a way for escape. Your rhythm and language are as always impressive. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful poem. I also noticed your name in the list of 500 poets. Congratulations! So proud and happy for you.

Yes loneliness has now become an epidemic, subduing the young and the old. If we can give a little of our time, it might save many lives. Thank you Savita for your beautiful words of appreciation!

A heart-touching poem. To get into someone's else shoes, to see life through another's eyes....how skillfully n beautifully you have done it. Loneliness is unfortunately v common. The reader can feel the pain of this lonely man, many will identify with him. We all need a soulmate. That's very human. A poignant n thoughtful write. A10

Thank you Nosheen! Your comments are always a delight to go through! Loneliness is often painful. Each one needs a few, at least one with whom he/she can share the joys and sorrows of everyday living and in whom he/she can put complete trust

There are so many such people in this world, people who feel utterly lonely and unloved. If we can show that we care for them, it will give them a new lease of life! .....................If we can do that it will be the best worship. A nice message in a thoughtful poem.

In a row boat without oars.Do we feel for these people from guilt or pity or maybe for the same reason that no child in danger is a stranger to us. Nor any man or woman. Something in our humanity cries out for people that would not be alone in a family, a tribe or a community small enough to care as neighbors. Civilization however allows people to become anonymous and the governments problem. What can we do as individuals? ....much. A ripple joined by others may help his boat to shore. We can all do so much more............exquisitely penned tribute. Very inspirational and humbling.

So glad to see your comment and thanks a lot. In the rat race for money and power, man is often reduced to an anonymous entity! No one has time to care for another. This is very sad and all around us there are people marooned on lonely islands. As you believe, much can be done to help them. What is needed is a humane attitude

Thank you, Valsa ji. You have taken up cudgels on behalf of people who are virtually cut off from this world. They need to be loved, cared and reassured of their worth in the society. I quote: He had only dark shadows for company /....A drift wood thrown ashore ....He feels like a sailor / in a life boat without oars

Definitely such marginalized people, always ignored and taken for granted suffer from a sense of isolation. The relatively comfortable section of the society should never try to aggravate their sense of loneliness, instead they should come to the rescue of such lonely souls from falling into depression. Even a kind word or an attentive ear may go a long way in helping them. Thank you Rajnish sir for your wonderful and sensitive comment!
