A Constant Companion Poem by Nellie Isabelle Steward Cooper

A Constant Companion

With the same sad dismay and dread
that has been my constant companion
for evermore and still a time longer

Yes, just a bit longer than forever
just about one tick of Big Ben as
he strikes his last brilliant chime

I find that I cannot say or do
anything that will facilitate
a much needed departure

This is not to say you have
changed for the very worst
but you are not the same

I lament..........

A Constant Companion
