A Class Reunion Poem by Daya Nandan

A Class Reunion

Rating: 5.0

I remember the days when we were all younger,
When we were so energetic and so much stronger,
A united classroom full of joy and laughter,
Preparing ourselves to chase the dreams we were after,

Ten years have passed since we have set foot in our school,
Ten years of surviving in the concrete jungle so cruel,
Responsibilities upon our shoulders, mouths to feed,
Working ourselves until our body starts to bleed,

Each of us are fighting our own battles and wars,
Each of us are trying to open up new doors,
Some are now parents, some are engaged or newly married,
So many changes, i still cannot believed we have aged,

The future scares me, i fear moving from my comfort zone,
I fear moving on from my bachelor life into the unknown,
Getting married and raising a family of my own,
Moving on and giving up the freedom of being alone,

Watching all of you do it is a good example for me,
To crawl out of my shell and seek my destiny,
Even after a decade i am still inspired of the class of mine,
The brave men and women of class 2009.

" Moving on and giving up the freedom of being alone." A beautiful portrayal of a straight forward and gentle fellow who has a strong attachment with his school days and friends yet he is a bit confused as to whether he should get married and give up freedom of bachelorhood. Thanks for sharing.10 points.
