Ghosts Of Christmas Trees Past Christmas in childhood eyes is a beautiful song sparkling... first memories happiness wonder good cheer tidings Christmas songs good will bubbling in merry laughter.... in old age cast mind back into childhood dreams mysteries colourful wrapped presents enchanting dazzling desired possibilities impatience is tiny fingers expectant minds... conversation is star dust monologue child's inability to tiny body contain joyful expectations glorious rich imagination images developed with pathos tragedy bliss tragedy bliss waiting waiting to open presents.... before final unbelievable Christmas Eve creeping dawning darkness dusk Christmas Day marvels care laid out so long unopened under silent Christmas... Tree happy glint decorations sparkles coloured flashing green strung lights charming calm beauty are our Christmas scenes light snow tumbling falls through windless dark... decades passing hauntingly suddenly when all family friends may be gone even without years past Christmas trees glorious magic of Christmas trees lingers.... 'A Christmas tree! A Christmas tree! With dark green needled memories Of childhood dreams and mysteries Wrapped present-like in front of me.' The whole poem is a beautiful song, the first stanzas are wonder and happiness, before the decline into the twelfth night hauntingly when family friends may be gone, but still even without the Christmas tree, the glorious 'magic of that Christmas tree' lingers 10+++

A fantastic Christmas poem, it really does bring back memories of those days we picked real trees before the plastic one we have.

Lovely poem. When I was a kid, my dad use to take me and my brothers out in the woods to cut down our own Christmas tree. (It was legal back in those days where we lived, but it's not any more.) Such fond memories this brings back!
