A Chess Piece Poem by Adedolapo Olisa

A Chess Piece

Rating: 5.0

I would move, go wherever
do whatever
I'd be your chess piece
it's a honor to be satisfied at your service

I'd love to bring you glory
it's a privilege to have you touch my peak, know you think
over the destination of my journey

In death I defend as a martyr
By living I am used to check and balance
whichever way, even as a pawn
I care not only but to fill a shoe of use

Whatever I do someone else could
the fact that I'm put to use
in passive defence or active risk of persecution and penetration
I am all but proud nor grumbling
I am running and hasting to your Will

I will not talk and say 'Put me to use Oh Lord! '
I know that I already I'm
only i'm blind and can't see my duty
or that I'm not worthy to grace the knowledge of your thought

You are the master
one that wins and lives in perfection of choice
who can give thee a tough time
except ye please?
The thought after your touch of my peak
so refreshes me- 'that you thought of using me'

Hallowed be thy name
how many have I watched you win
even when i think a move is stupid
and then I see that indeed it is I who is

Oh Lord, i wait
like a chess piece do with me whatever
I choose to surrender my will
leaving it at thy footstool
that i might be wise, no longer a fool
Only in thy use of me can I be fulfilled
and dwell not in folly

You know my weakness better than my strength
how far, how long, how strong I stand
all, you weave to make a better me

Time is ticking but I'd dare
whether to live or die
My desire is that in either i bring thee delight.

A very wonderful poem with a very strong essence that love consists of desiring to give what is all our own to the others and then feel their delight as our own for time is indeed passing by very hurriedly and one has to make full use of it in spreading happiness......10/10
