Rating: 5.0

Long years ago we said our vows,
Which ended with a kiss;
In thinking on those years, I see
Some trials, some tears and bliss.

Wow that was really great! A subject no one wants to discuss but you did a great job with your expressions!

yes, a very good rhythm. I suppose us Chauvinists are off trend at the moment but we'll be back! I reckon you got it just right. Seems to have worked in your case. Mine too! Tom Billsborough Ps I reckon they got your age wrong. Bet you're 21

Very reflective Joe. We walk the same road. The meter runs easily, tripping off the tongue and making for one of those reads which creep in and catch you in the throat. (P.S. As you already know, my parrot is of a like mind) :)

You seem no more a chauvinist than most men Joe. It's just the way we men are, and our traits are built into our DNA. This is not an excuse for bad behaviour, but sometimes we have to be tough, and aggressive, and it is all too often a frustrating and precarious balancing act.

Was not expecting to read this giving the title, but it delivered something else entirely, you articulate the grace of marriage so well that you give that institution hope in those who believe in commitment. A glorious read, that celebrate cooperation and interdependence of that union.

Joseph, A truly enjoyed poem. The sanctity of marriage is a two way street. Sounds like you met the love of your life on that street. Thanks.

I loved this beautiful poem of love and life together with another. Excellent, and almost leaves one wishing they could find such content in life. Thank you.

I oft time lead in many ways, But sometime lean on her; Though mutual sharing is our goal, That oft does not occur. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing from the depths your heart. The years have made you wise, and It's a blessing that you share these little gems with us. Thanks. 10

Only you know in your heart if you are chauvinistic - if you feel you are, you can always change.

As long as your children respect and honor you now, you must have lived a very productive life in your prime, though you called yourself still aggressive..Thank you for opening your heart to us. I think that it is beautiful..

I love the sincere reflection that goes on. If just more of us could reflect on what is good and what is not in our life, the world would look oh so different. Excellent piece of poetry.

I think Chauvinistic means not having respect for women, thinking them inferior. Not by leading or being supportive. If you feel you are too aggressive in the relationship, that is something you can change. A good solid poem, written about years of marraige and about someone you still love and care about. Now that's something to brag about.
