This a fragile and lovely poem. Very much in the spirit of the haiku, it highlights just a couple of sensory impressions and creates a resonance that extends indefinitely. I think I will hear the chapel bell when I take my evening walk tonight. And it will be reassuring to know that a chapel may appear before me when I least expect to find it. I take the last line to refer to a sweet melancholy, not a desperate one.
