A Chance To Get Away Poem by Sven Rhoads

A Chance To Get Away

I have seen it in my dreams a thousand times
The mountains of my longing, sweet solitude
Here like a prisoner but there has been no crime
Distorted and serrated became this attitude

Dont let the monster get the best of me
You feed the creature that I dont want to be

I have heard it whispered in the blowing winds
The siren calling me in the wintry gray
Now I'm in a fight I know that I must win
There is always tomorrow but what happened to today

On silver bullet wings I go into the sky
Seeking my chance to just get away
To breathe in a brand new life
For mine has been rotting away
With a breath of fire I will scorch the night
Ignite the stars for a chance to get away
No longer stranded on this island
It is time for me to make my stand

I have found a primal love like none before
No healing hand could reach so deep
I have no idea just to what is instore
But this quest of mine is forever to keep

Dont stand in the way of the coming wave
Around you or over you, I will find a way

And there is a calm right before the storm
Resting behind these tired blue eyes
The flame has been burning since I was born
To seek my path, escape is the prize
