Crawled under the house to retrieve
something's that I had fogotten.
While I took them out, I sorted and found
that most of what I'd stored, was damp and rotten.

Completely taken in by your write....I have myself, detangled dampened memorabilia....moistened, at times, by tears...Thank you for returning my thoughts to what I had nearly stored for years. I invite you to venture around the attic rafters of my poems. PEACE and plenty, to you....glad I stumbled in...thinking I might just have to stay awhile.
Another good poem, great thoughts. Read mine - Mother Dear, Oh Mother Dear - Adeline
'Stuck together were some photos of me and my brother. As I pulled them apart, their memories rushed to my heart' Rachel Ann Butler
A very nostalgic poem and a philosophical ending. We all come across with such moments in life. Except our memories, nothing is really tangible in our life. Yet, the stock in a card-board can inspire us a lot like this. The present always leaves something for the past. The past always leaves something for the present. This is an interplay.
A very nostalgic poem of the sweetest memories maybe lost to mold and decay but locked safely in your mind.very good
Brain is the magical cardboard box full of memories..... Great write Linda. Regards Naseer
A nostalgic read... it happens some times....you live through several decades in those memorable moments... it happens with me too. CP
A very nice read indeed. I too especially like the last two lines. Best wishes Richard
Your last observation is the heart of this poem, and it was nice to read.
Memories are such treasures. I too think of my brother and my childhood when I look at things from the past. I lost him last year so the memories are all I have. I cherish them. Very nice poem - a '10! ' Warm Wishes, Marilyn
there is nothing like finding youl old stuff and your memories attached to that lovely....well done
It's surprising what can inspire a poem. I see you see everything from the poets eye - that good! Nice sentiments, well expressed!
The things and people that we love will always remain in our hearts forever. I can never forget grandma Dolly, granpa Jack, Uncle Johnny, nor auntie Caroline. The heartstrings attached to their memories will never be broken. It is wonderful that you could have these memories, and still do in your heart and soul, even without the pictures, because the pictures are in your mind and in your heart and they will never disappear or fade. Thank you for sharing girlfriend. Love & hugs, Barbara
I love this poem. It makes me think of everything. I really hope that I can find more poems like this...
