This poem is exquisite. it may not talk of birthday cakes with his name on...but the way he plays on the imagination of the reader when he speaks of a bell with his name on. It is exquisite, simply put just beautiful.

2) like In addition to poetry, Kooser has written in a variety of forms including personal essays, and literary criticism. That is very interesting though. I have enjoyed very much having read this A Birthday Poem. Very impressive words here. Cutest clearly conveyed.5 Stars!

Congratulations on being chosen as The Modern Poem Of The Day. Hoorray! He is not like the average poet, he had been poet laureate and he wrote not only poetry but several other formats like

I don't like it. I find the poem a bit weird and it has nothing to do with birthdays.

i think this poem is about a cow waiting in a pasture for someone carrying a bucket of " foamy white light" ...milk? Maybe it's to mark the anniversary of when he/she was born? ? ? I don't know, it's a very obtuse poem.
