A Best Friend Is... Poem by Mark Dillon

A Best Friend Is...

Rating: 4.7

I'm Standing on the ground,
But my head's in the clouds,
trying to pick out a familiar face in the crowds.
Someone to identify with, 'cause I'm here on my own.
I hate this feeling of being lost and alone.

Oh where did my friends go.
We all grew up so fast'
The connections we make in childhood.
They rarely seem to last.
With you going your path
and they going theirs.
Each going through lifes wears and tears.

But a few always remain
through thick and through thin.
Friends and companions forever,
no approvals to win.
And when clouds are at their darkest
and you need someone to call.
Your best friend is there to soften the fall.
Like a guardian angel sent down from above,
A best friend comes with unconditional love.
