THOSE WHO HAVE LOOKED DEATH INTO THE EYE KNOW THAT GOD EXISTS IN THE WORLD. That is a great passage of poetry, Liza. Proving the existence of God is a vexed issue. Aristotle's five proofs which Thomas Aquinas reshaped for a Christian audience are no longer credible. But personal experience can burn with such force that it convinces where the abstractions of philosophy fail. Your lines of poetry prove that. They remind me of the philosopher I read in college Nicolas Berdayev. He could spin a subtle web of words which could trap an unwary reader, but he never settled for mere word-play. He was more mystic than philosopher, and waited patiently for the intervention of divine light to flood his and his readers' understanding.
