99 Falls Poem by Oscar Munir

He is still holding on even after being hurt 99 times,
she was monstrous, she was selfish that he knew,
whispered her love and feelings for him at one point,
confessed her intentions of making a family with him one day,
But like letting him go off a cliff she ran to the other guy.

A hard puzzle that she had failed to solve, Alex and Mathew,
She didnt' want to hurt any of them and wanted all of them happy,
But time was flying so fast that she decided to get married to Alex,
Mathew attended her wedding and her sight of him made her uncomfortable the whole time,
She hadn't invited him or told him about her wedding but there he was, all smartly dressed witnessing the love of his life get married to another man.

Even from a distance she could see the sadness he couldn't hide and the tears he couldn't wipe anymore,
It's been 5 years and Matthew isn't married yet, holding on to some hope,
Madly in love he is still with her but she has avoided eye contact even when they meet,
Time heals all wounds but his are not yet to be yet,
Men don't cry but he's cried a million times day and night.

Sleepless nights he has had, thinking about someone who has literally moved on,
'True love is patient, ' he normally says as he forces a smile,
He has grown thin from eating late and sometimes never at all,
Someday she will walk up to him and realize he was the right person he believes,
Never have I ever seen a love so deep like Mathew's.
