I am a soldier and there's a war to be won
have no uniform but the clothes I wear
I carry no weapons to shoot or kill
and I pray I will never have to
My pack is heavy with worries and cares
but I would not change it for the world
full of memories of everyone I care about
and those I swore to protect
Not all of my scars are visible
as many of my wounds are on the inside
occasionally thoughts bleed out onto paper
seeping through bandages that can't staunch the flow
Have seen so many people fall around me
or desert me when all seems lost
but I'd put my life on line for my buds
and would never consider how great the cost
Yes I fight on but not in an army
defending myself and those I care about
this life is just one huge battlefield that must be fought
and I am a just soldier in a war that cannot be won
