702.The Fall Of Orban Poem by Jaden Knight

702.The Fall Of Orban

It was around sunset when the portal opened
and the whole sky darkened to a blood red
demonic creatures in black armour poured out
they ran through the city gates
overwhelming the unprepared guards

By the time the soldiers were mustered
many parts of the city were ablaze
some of the streets blocked with burning timbers
making any form of defence plan near impossible

Only those with enchanted weapons
could hope to kill or hurt the savage attackers
the rest could only hold them off
before they were torn apart

Only the chapel remained unharmed
despite all the carnage around
none of the demonic beings could enter it
and so the civilians cowered inside
the healers and wizards working hard
to close many gaping wounds

At sunrise the guard captain led those in the chapel out
through the secret passage way hidden under north side
only 300 people were able to follow him
the rest of the population either missing or dead
buried beneath burning wood and rubble

Even outside they could still hear the sounds of destruction
as one of the castle's towers collapsed
the survivors could only listen in horror
as their beloved city of Orban was lost
