626. Poem by Jaden Knight

626.

I desired to be an important piece
in the chess game of your life
taking my place on the board
along with the everyone else

I could have been a rook
to help guard the rank and file
able to cover ground quickly
to start or halt attacks

I wanted to be a knight
doing things for you that others can't
able to threaten an attack on many foes
from multiple unexpected angles

I knew I couldn't be a bishop
that just isn't my thing
stuck on one set of squares for life
unable to adapt as needed

I desired to be an important piece
in the chess game of your life
but just like everyone else you know
the most I could ever be was a pawn
