619. This Is How Democracy Died Poem by Jaden Knight

619. This Is How Democracy Died

And this is how democracy died
in a dark alley away from view
viciously attacked from behind
by those who promised to keep it alive

We are all fed the lie that it still exists
while our votes are being lost
the winners have already been decided
and have been long before the elections

Shadowy figures lurking in the dark
are pulling the all the strings
making the governments their puppet
constantly hiding from everyone's view
fearing to be brought to light

The system has failed and yet we still believe
as our freedoms are sold to the highest bidder
one day the truth will come out
and the liars will be exposed for who they are
an old may will tell the story to his children and say
"this is how democracy died"
