616. Marja Poem by Jaden Knight

616. Marja

Marja stands alone on the sandy beach
or up on the cliff top looking out to sea
her dark hair and blue dress blowing in the wind
her grey eyes trying to pierce the horizon

She waits for her beloved to return
so they can be happily married
raising a family in their own home
living in joy and peace

She spends most of her days on the lookout
only going home with the setting sun
she'd be back with the rising sun
with only the fiercest storms keeping her at home

She doesn't know his ship was lost in a storm
that he was dragged down with it as it sank
still she waits day after day
even as the weeks turned into months

Then one day she fell from the cliff top
and fell to her death onto the rocks below
no one heard her final cries
as they were wiped out by the ocean

Marja's spirit still stands in the same spots
weeping and shaking with grief
still waiting for her love to come back to her
even though he can never return
