614. Koli Poem by Jaden Knight

614. Koli

Koli was rejected by his dark elf family
because of his love of music
his beliefs clashed with those of his parents
who only viewed him as an embarrassment

While they were thieves and assassins
clad in cloaks and smell of death
his long black hair clashed with his colourful clothes
emitting the light of life and joy
that his people could not understand

He sought beauty within instruments
seeking happiness in tunes and notes
they were happy with destruction
feeding off another's misery and pain
Though he cast his family's beliefs aside
many wood and high elves rejected him
due to their history of wars against his kind
he was no longer one of his people
even if his skin said otherwise
Then one day they heard him play and sing
and took him to their hearts with joy
finally seeing that beneath his skin
he was just like one of them
Now he is celebrated throughout the woods
and across the mountains high
he never wonders about where he came from
he has a new family now that accepts him
