You asked me if I would describe you as pretty
but I cannot call you that
feel that that it would be insulting to you
even though it is part of your name

To me pretty would be demeaning
as it used to describe flowers and dresses
such things can be discarded easily
but you are something to be kept

For I would call you beautiful in your own way
not just in looks but also in mind
able to make little boys turn bright red
with a simple honest question

I could not call you pretty
even though it is part of your name
instead I will call you beautiful
as it is something that can last
