You told me once when we were young
that you are a heartbeat away
no matter how far we may be
even when we were looking in each other's eyes
the distance would remain

But then we started to grow apart
and the gaps seemed to be getting wider
still you insisted that you were right
despite arguments getting in the way



Then one day you seemed to fade away
no longer in my sight
I mourned your disappearancei
if only I have remembered at that time
what you had whispered to me

In a way you are still here
and I can hear your voice
it's telling me that despite everything you haven't gone
and that you're only a heartbeat away
