505. Ride Of The Horseman Poem by Jaden Knight

505. Ride Of The Horseman

The headless horseman rides every Halloween night
on his faithful grey mare
the hoof beats echoing in the cold air
frightening all those who hear it

His clothes are black as midnight
matching the saddle and bridal
the only brightness is his sword
hanging from the scabbard by his left thigh

He seeks for his lost love
who went missing 300 years ago
he was wrongly accused of killing her
and decapitated under an oak tree
she came upon his body where it was left to rot
and took his head as a memento

He seeks out the descendants
of those who dared to kill him
decapitating them with his silver blade
and carrying their bodies away
never to be seen again by mortal eyes

When he eventually finds her in her blue dress
she will give him back his missing skull
rejoined again in body in love his curse will end
she will get mount his horse behind him
and they will ride off in eternity in peace
