While you much on broccoli and asparagus, I shall indulge in ice-cream and chocolate cake, though you will live longer than me, it will be because vegetables make life seem endless, and my life will be sweeter as sugar shortens life but makes every moment so much better as well!
In New Jersey, beware For those assembled there Are for the first delivery Of Earth's green bounty. Asparagus the buds so tender Hidden in the cold earth since December Now emerges in a strong showing fast That Spring is here at last. They crowd about the boxes Like so many hungry foxes Each wanting more, more, more Until there is none left in the store. But soon their appetite will be sated As the garden state's bounty is uncrated. Fruits, vegetables and more Are here not far from th' Eastern Shore.. s (Some of the nicest people I have ever met live in New Jersey!)
Delightful! A 'sonnet' to a vegetable...the delicious asparagus! Wonderful! A recipe included within the poem to boot! Marvelous idea! A very clever poem! I quite like it. But it is not Iambic pentametre. Iambic seems rather key. Either way, its a clever piece and I enjoyed it.
