5 Minutes Poem by Thomas Dooley

5 Minutes

5 Minutes -
As 22 years of life flashes by
No time to celebrate the new life

Life is a field with broken promises
Is forgiveness one of them

5 Minutes -
As a mother wonders why
Why doesn't the tears bring back life

To live is everyone's right
No one should choose to die

5 Minutes -
No time for quick decisions
No choice but to blame the victim

Could we forgive this
Should we forgive this

5 Minutes -
No time to plan for the next day
No time to plan to pass away

Is there words for healing
What are the words we are needing

5 Minutes -
Alone in the dark
As the pain burns through the heart
