I liked the love felt in this poem for your pet. And about how hard it is to discipline a dog for biting and how it does hurt if you hit one - hurts both of you. I like how you said you hit him 'once' and that was as if you knew never to do it again because of the pain of doing it. And almost like the dog learned to not bite again, too.
