494. Tohopka And Callula Poem by Jaden Knight

494. Tohopka And Callula

Tohopka was 14 when the changes happened
when his hair was replaced by thick black fur
he sprouted 6 inch horns from his head
and it seemed he would not stop growing taller

His father Noshia put on him a collar and chains
and secured him to the strongest trees and rocks
by the waterfall and stream that was his favourite place
doomed to spend the rest of his life in the forest
unable to walk around as he wished
with only the trees and plants for company

Most of the time he was all alone
listening to the bees and the songs of birds in the tree tops
his parents never bothered to visit
to them he was far too terrifying
his father never even spoke of him again
to Noshi his 12 year old daughter was the only child

Tohopka's sister Callula was the only one
who was not afraid of what her brother had become
she would visit her brother several times a week
wearing a light brown dress that was his favourite
it complimented her long dark hair

She would stand on a bridge made of a thick tree branch
covered with pretty flowers and moss
she would bring him food and sing to him
to ease his melancholy existence

Tohapka is destined to break his chains
and live the remainder of his him enjoying freedom
in the forest that he loves so much
until he dies in peace of eventual old age
