479. Poem by Jaden Knight

479.

You may break my body with clubs
shatter my bones with heavy rocks
but yet neither seems to hurt as much
as when your words mercilessly stab
deep into my mind

I do not enjoy the pain as the blows rain down
wishing for some form of relief
the crack of ribs and tearing of heart strings
will haunt me long after the event

my battered self can gradually heal
even with outside help
my inner form will just be scarred
with little chance of repair

You may break my body with clubs
shatter my bones with heavy rocks
cut with my with your harsh words
but however hard you try
you will never touch my injured soul
