419. Poem by Jaden Knight

419.

I was your cloak in the coldest weather
wrapped closely round you
warming you up despite the ice and snow
a source of hope in the artic conditions

I helped keep you safe during the worst storms
when the blizzards threatened to bury you
they never got close to doing that
as every flake melted whenever they touched me

When you reached the warmer climates
and the road was clear and flat
you cast me aside in the dirt
claiming you didn't need me
no that you could not see the clouds

When the winter comes again
I will not keep you warm
this time you can freeze
if you fail to find another cloak
I was cast aside once and will not be so by you again
