There is a garden in my mind
full of many happy things
a place of peace surrounded by war
untouched by the horrors that are around it
as they beat in vain against the high gates and walls
There is a large pond in the centre
surrounded by a path of onyx
a tall fountain in the very middle
made of the purest marble
with water and rainbows pouring merrily down
with a peaceful splashing sound
the lawn is well kept and soft
it always is a perfect length
never needs work doing to it
always appearing green and well watered
the white peacocks strutting about
don't seem to made any marks
There are granite statues in each corner
each of a favourite animal
no moss or lichen grows on them
as they gleam with an inner light
The beds are filled with flowers
all of fantastic colours
no pruning or weeding needed
and not a dead thing in sight
My favourite spot is the bench of oak
where I can sit in peace
undisturbed from all that is troubling
can take a moment to relax
away from the darkness outside
There is a garden in my mind
full of many happy things
a place of peace surrounded by war
untouched by the horrors that around it
as they beat in vain on the high gates and walls
