The night is all but hushed and still,
The day seems years away.
I step outside in the winter chill
And let the stars wash off the day.
Out here I am alone and free,
Here in silence and serenity.
I can't hear anyone complain,
I don't have to pretend I care.
Only my own thoughts fill my brain,
My sanity starts to repair.
I rid myself of worldly debris,
Here in silence and serenity.
I take no orders, nor give them,
Here I'm not inferior.
No one to judge me or condemn,
My viewpoints are superior.
I'm something and a somebody,
Here in silence and serenity.
