30 Years My Dear Friend Poem by abu tarek md tahsin

30 Years My Dear Friend

Rating: 5.0

I sing
Of liberty and sunshine
But 30years I have been
In this dungeon of prison

And the good old Lord
Knows me and my seasons

I have seen countless winters
Come and go
Seen thunder
From a window
High above my prison floor

But never have i
Cried to a God
For no crime
That I have caused

I harmed not a living soul
But 30 years
I have been
In this prison hole

30 years
My dear friend
Through hard work and toil
I have endured

Not a whimper
Neither a cry
I have shown

They took me in
To chain liberty
But a bird was
meant only to be Free

I sing
Of liberty and sunshine
When the world
Would be free
To live as one likes

Then one fine afternoon
Came a clang in my prison door
And uproar rose from the prison floor

30 years my friend
It took
For freedom to come
To my prison door

I kissed the grass
I kissed the sun
Freedom had
come to my country
At last

At last
People were free
To vote for democracy

At last
I was free
To live peacefully
