235. The Ages Of Man Poem by Jaden Knight

235. The Ages Of Man

In the first age of human existence
man created the sport of killing
and women created betrayal and lies
the world was already old at this point
but welcomed the strangers eagerly
as new and exciting creations

The second age brought on new death
as humanity created the game of war
hundreds were slain by the first forged blades
the rivers of blood fertilising the fields

The third and forth brought more destruction
and along with it new ways of thinking
using hills and woods as natural defences
taking advantage of the land around

The fifth age brought the creation of modern science
as creatures were studied for the first time
extinctions started to be noticed
as species were over hunted

Then of course came the time of industry
and with it the first mass production
increasing the efficiency of killing
as new empires were born
the world had became a battle ground

Now we are approaching the final age
where the ancient planet is fighting back
despite our many advances through time
lessons have not been learnt
we have pushed so many creatures to extinction
one way or another it will soon be our time
for humanity to face its own

Maybe the world will reshape itself and survive
and carry on as it did in the beginning
maybe parts of our existence will be found
as monuments to our failures become fossils
for the next intelligent species to find
