I have a suspicion that we're pausing, ever so slightly. And that pause will continue to expand, because economic conditions will force the pause, sooner or later.

I agree. Huge boxes of fake Christmas trees, (lights already on them just plug in) displayed before Halloween to remind us of our duty to keep pushing the economy uphill.
