21st Century Puritan Poem by Mary Champion

I am a fully paid up,
totally committed,
ideologically vetted
member of my chosen Identity Group.

No atom of doubt,
no word of warning
no hint of criticism
is permitted to pass my lips.

Those who deviate one micron
from the approved doctrine
will be unpersonned -
vaporised!

Politically I may be right, left or centre
but wherever I come to rest,
I will be superimposed on every other one
of my fellow IG members.

My class may be top, bottom
or anywhere in between,
but, whatever my rank
It will exactly match that of my brothers.
 

My sexual orientation -
is fully in accordance with our norm.
My culture whether high, low or middling
meets all the required standards
and is never to be appropriated.

My ethnic identity is totally exclusive
My religious views in perfect harmony
with the rules of my chosen Group.

All disagreement is heresy,
blasphemy;
verboten.
My forbears have been scrutinized
for twenty generations.
My genome is impeccable.
I utter only pre-approved mantras
otherwise I do not speak.
All original thought
has been outlawed.

Socially Isolating is my way of life -
having rigorously analysed the rest of Humanity
I find there is only one person
who passes muster..
my Identity Group has a single member -
sad, lonely, blinkered, intolerant ME!
