210. The Other Day Poem by Jaden Knight

210. The Other Day

The other day you walked away
without looking back
tell me that you'd never return
that you'd never want to see me
or hear my voice again

Yet today you're on your knees in front of me
crying crocodile tears at my feet
wanting to be forgiven once more
saying that you meant not what you said and did before
as if it would immediately fix things

Once I would have done so instantly
without giving it a thought
forgetting all that happened
at least putting it aside for a while

But now I'm hesitating
this trick you pulled before
how do I know you mean it this time
and that this is not another game

I can't keep being your Cinderella
a servant is not my part
can't just sweep it all away
can't keep letting you into my heart

This time I will forgive you
but know that this is the last
next time I will just walk away
leaving you in my past
