We all are cakes to begin with
designed by our parents
mixed by our fathers
and baked by our mothers
Some of us are single layers
others are multi-tiered
many shapes and sizes
and icing of different colours
Trouble is that too many are focused on the decoration
some are obsessed with candle size
others on the ornamentation
surely what we all should focus on
is the ingredients that made them
Yes decoration can be important
but it doesn't tell the whole story
pay attention to what's underneath
because it's what that is on the inside that counts
Yes we all leave behind our crumbs
when it comes to the great banquet in the sky
all we can hope for is a better place
when it comes to the final tasting

This is fantastic! I am adding this to my favorite poems list, and have voted it a ten. All because Bri Edwards mentioned you in his newest poem.
