I can remember laughing
when a bud if mine told me
love can be like a drug
it can have side effects
Can recall laughing it off
like it was a joke
didn't even consider the possibility
that he might be right
Of course I found out he was right
but too late to do much about it
I became addicted to love itself
and no one knew how much
But every time the side effects came
and each occasion the same
shattered heart with destroyed faith
low confidence and broken dreams
Then I met her and thought it would work
she told me that hers was safe
should have realised that this was not true
but my addiction over rode my sanity
Yes I was told that love is a drug
safe in small enough doses
now I might need a doctor
because with you I over dosed
