These are the ironic thoughts of a dead man? And his main squeeze is dead too? Was there a car accident? He apparently is admitting they lived too fast, too dangerously and now life or is it death has dealt them its final message. Hey, you guys, you were supposed to slow down! Now you're just down - forever! Is that the gist of the poem. WOW.
