178. Man In The Mirror Comments

This poem is related to INTERNAL WARFARE, not so much in its details but in the general focus on self-awareness. You know the PINK FLOYD song: THERE'S SOMEONE IN MY HEAD BUT IT'S NOT ME. On the surface that line is the polar opposite of what your poem presents, but inside both PF's song and your poem is a sense of a stranger inside, someone I neither recognize nor want to acknowledge, the mystery of identity which seems malevolent. In the last lines your narrator draws battlelines: he wants to destroy the Other, but won't he be destroying himself too? Inner and Outer Selves cancelling each other.

i bet quite a few men (and women, 'doing' makeup or plucking eyelashes etc) have had similar thoughts while in front of a mirror. this is interesting. i don't think the man in the mirror knows who he is fooling with. has he seen your sword? ? ? i kind of like MY man in the mirror. he is sooooooooo handsome, though his hair has gown completely gray and he's starting to get wrinkles. today i was shocked to see a big red pimple also! i wish i didn't have to shave to have a 'hairless' face. i suppose the 'man in the mirror' is lonely much of the time. my favourite/favorite lines: you better watch yourself instead of me this is your last warning one day I will knock you out man in the mirror ...................................wrap your fist in a towel first! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! thanks for sharing. sorry, but i will have to borrow this poem for MyPoemList. bri :)
