14 Monsoon Ago Poem by abu tarek md tahsin

14 Monsoon Ago

Rating: 5.0

I saw her that crystal noon
In a boat coming across the river
Sunshine drew long shades in the water
Away from where I stood and stared

Her lips were pale
Her eyes glittered like gold
And in between the clouds
Is
I lost my soul

I lost a many evening and many a nights
Wandering looking for her
Until I found her village home
Right across the wide old river

She lived a peaceful life
All these 20 something years
And what she told me
Broke me
For they were words so clear

"There you see beneath the coconut tree
Lies dear dead mother
And just beyond that tree
Lies my 3 older sisters"

How I survived
I do not know
It has been 14 monsoon since
The flood that took everything

Everything I had ever since

I cannot go leaving with you
To some far off city or town
When all I have is here with me
Just below the ground
