Here in London John, Xmas brings massing crowds of people from all over the world to Oxford Street and Regent Street, the West End. Shopping, shopping always shopping and at times so busy that you are literally lifted along the pavements by the crowds! The Xmas lights are so cheerful and the shops are full of goodies with wonderous smells of food wafting through the air to wet your appetite for breakfast, lunch or tea. London is alive at Xmas, but there's a place nearby, where I live that I always used to take my children in the late evening at Xmas, especially when it was snowing because of the wonderful Xmas trees outside each little cottage or house in the white glow of snow covered pavements. The little fairy lights make the place look like a tale from a child's story book, magical and my boys would gasp and squeal with delight when they were younger to see 'fantasia' come to life. Forget Disneyworld, fairy lights and countryside with a little imagination is all they needed. love Ruthie: o) Ruthie

Hi John This is exactly what my great grandad thought when he pinched that loaf of bread and got sent over here to Australia- We don't really have winter here, but there is no one bright enough to think of another name for what we do have. So we stick with 'Winter'.-10 from me
Thanks, Sir Knight; whenever I feel down this winter and need a lift; I will come to read your cheerful poem, in order to remind myself that Winter does not last forever! (smile)
