This is my daughter's fav lullaby, though I cant say that I do it much justice. The very idea of familiarizing non- malayalam speakers with such a beautiful piece of literature is humbling in itself... and to speak of the translation.. its so beautifully done.
Thanks for this beautiful translation, I enjoyed reading it! -Raj Nandy

ohhh...this poem! ! ! ! ! ...i have learnt it in my schoool....such a beautiful poem! ! ! ! i loved it sooo mcuh....and your translations is the best tooo! ! ! !
Yes, indeed, this is a beautiful lullaby. I wish I knew enough about poetry to analyze it in detail - it lends itself to a careful study. I like the use of the word, 'OR'. A cup of thirst quenching cold water or a shattering shade Nectar in my sight or a light to dispel darkness The field of virtue, or an abode of all duty. Each time, the aletrnative (if 'or' is used here as an alternative) is as strong and virile as the first choice. This is indeed powerful, engaging and moving. Liked it a lot. Mark
There is no denying the fact that this the most beautiful lullaby ever written and you have done a fantastic job for the world to appreciate.
