Oh, this does add a twinge of fear into my head at the thought of ever venturing out to do a poetry reading! But, what I like about this is that the poet already knows, and almost expects this reaction yet plods through feeling it's his 'duty' to enlighten them with poetry. Great poem Michael. (I would LOVE to listen to you at a poetry reading) :) Sincerely, Mary
An interesting theory Michael, I would imagine all would raise a smile at your poetry. You are indeed a true people watcher and put those thoughts out onto paper so well. Great read and a great write! HG: -) x
Michael, I can see them - you have captured your audience with impeccable clarity and wit. I recall Rumpole fighting sleep at 'she who must be obeyed's' carol singing. I've no doubt Michael the actor will guarantee the audience leave with a smile on its face and Michael the Poet might just touch a heart or two. I love your line 'culture a kinda penance for the overspend' and the teacher in you 'marking them off one by one'. Delicious. love, Allie xxxxxxxxxxxxx
