Michael Ordia Poems

Beneath the dark corner, she lay there
Love was the gift wrapped with fear
Gone were the days smiles were rocking
Now and then his fist did the talking.
...

Through the darkness
Through the dancing flame
When faith was madness
In this drenching rain
...

Love was all he tried to carve
Due to rejection he was left to starve
He crowned you his queen, his only muse
You fed him theatrical words, he was being used
...

They sought chemistry
We made art.
Love birds on the tree
We're bats.
...

I am Africa
I am the first of our kind
I am history
I am tales a million years old
...

When you see a poet
You see life at its best
He understands nature better than the first man
He sees the soul of all living, and inanimate
...

I'm scared of the man I might become
A false man like my father.
I'm scared of hurting women the way dad hurts mum
Daddy doesn't beat mum, he never hits her
...

Two thousand and nine
We fell in love like Bonnie and Clyde
Your pretty face and hips that never lie.
We fought sometimes we broke apart
...

I know the man in white.
Some believe he's an angel in human skin,
Many call him Father.
I know the man in white.
...

Welcome.
Welcome my love
Welcome to my dream world, our rendezvous.
We do this every night
...

Hey black sheep!
Run! Run black sheep!
The white wolves are coming.
They say your black is a crime

Today I will tell a stories
Stories of nobodies.
Not of Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama or Chimamanda
Tales of those who might be your neighbour or a random person on the street.
...

What if God was a man, like mortal beings
He would be a man feared by kings
He would awe the world by doing unspeakable things,
The world will know of his name
...

No one knew her name, no one cared
All they knew was that her favorite colour was red.
The lady in red as she was called
Would wear her best red gown to your door
...

You will find them in schools, at work, on the street, at home.
You will find them broken, petrified, unwhole.
Young bodies coerced to eat from the fruits of womanhood
Shriek, squeal, howl ignored by the eyes of pleasure.
...

Love is the flower you made bloom
At the sight of you, I felt butterflies I never knew.
You are my light in this tunnel of darkness
My cells in awe at this palpable brightness.
...

If I had a daughter today
When do I begin to worry?
Puberty?
That would be too late

I thought I could be strong for you mama
To endure the pain and drama
The countless whips on my naked body
The tears that flow all night.
...

I have seen God.
Her head raised high, poised and beautiful
Smooth skin that seems to control nature in her veins.
In her was history, the first, the genesis.

Domestic Violence

Beneath the dark corner, she lay there
Love was the gift wrapped with fear
Gone were the days smiles were rocking
Now and then his fist did the talking.
Each scar told a story
Nights when pain took glory.
She fell for every apology he fed her
Tears from the tricky eyes of care
'I love you' She always told him
She wanted love's symphony.
Everything she did was for love
She fed him lust when he starved
Love was so deep that she drown
Browbeaten by pain she was the clown
'You will die this day' her heart said
As he smite her with the hands of death.
