Newo is 16 She is currently a junior in high school. She began writing poems in the fifth grade. She is active in the marching band, concert band, and science olympiad at school. She can play the clarinet and saxophone, and is also learning guitar. Newo draws inspiration from the world around her, through personal experience, imagination, or secondhand account. The poets she most enjoys reading are Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, T.S. Elliot, Pablo Neruda and Ezra Pound.
