Munira Chowdhury was born on 6th January 1976 in England. After graduating in mass communication and journalism she did her Masters in English from Cardiff University. Mother of three children she originally belonged to Sylhet district of Bangladesh. She wanted to write poems from her childhood and was interested in various poetry movements in Bengali literature, including the Hungryalist movement. In order to be conversant with modern Bengali language and literature she decided to spend a few years in Bangladesh and made a great impact in Bengali poetry. She has edited and written several books. She established the Bengali Literary Academy in the United Kingdom.
