WE MADE IT(A POEM WRITTEN BY MKHWANANZI MTHANDAZO)
WE MADE IT MY DEAR FRIENDS
...
If I die today.
Just put my body on a bed to lay.
Neither weep nor cry for me in vain.
Do not sorrow nor be in pain.
...
A gentle soul, a loving heart,
My mother, a work of art.
With kindness, care, and devotion true,
She guides me through all I do.
...
My soul, a dying ember,
Fading fast, with each passing December.
Once ablaze, with passion and fire,
Now reduced to ash, my heart's desire.
...
Beware youths, listen to the warning call,
You're speeding down the highway, to a fatal fall,
The road is paved with temptation, and destruction's near,
Don't let the devil's whispers, lead you to the precipice, my dear.
...
As I sit and ponder, on the love we share,
I'm filled with pride and joy, beyond compare.
You're a shining star, that lights up the night,
A precious gift, that fills my heart with delight.
...
I grind and I hustle, day and night,
To create a better life, a brighter light,
For you, my son, and your mother too,
And your sisters, who deserve all the best, it's true.
...
A good girl gone bad, with a heart that's turned cold,
A soul that's lost its way, with a spirit that's grown old.
She once was pure and sweet, with a smile that could light,
But now she's tainted, with a darkness that's taken flight.
...
A father's absence, a childhood pain,
A wound that's deep, a scar that remains.
You left when I was young, a toddler's age,
A separation that lasted, until your final stage.
...
Who is loving you, now that I'm gone?
Is it someone new, or just a temporary song?
Do they hold your hand, and whisper in your ear?
Do they make you laugh, and wipe away your tears?
...
In the depths of my soul, a darkness resides,
A malevolent force, that constantly abides.
It's a presence that's palpable, a weight that I can feel,
A constant reminder of the evil that I conceal.
...
At last I died, my heart stopped beating,
My soul took flight, my body started retreating.
The pain and the sorrow, the tears and the strife,
All faded away, as I took my final life.
...
When you left, I never bothered to roam,
Searching for love, in a world that's not home.
I knew where it was, in the memories we made,
In the laughter, the tears, the moments we've played.
...
I wear my scars with pride,
Like badges of honor, side by side.
Each one a story, of trials and strife,
A testament to the strength, of this fragile life.
...
I ask the men, with faces so bold,
'Are you okay? ' Their response, a story oft told.
'I'm okay, ' they say, with a nod and a grin,
But deep down, they're drowning, in a sea of pain within.
...
In the silence of the night
A cry echoes, a desperate light
A soldier's voice, worn and weak
A soul crushed, a heart that seeks
...
He drank all night, and lost his job the next day,
Fired for tardiness, his future faded away.
He drank and turned violent, in a barroom fight,
...
If I depart today, lay my body to rest,
No tears, no sorrow, no pain, no unrest.
Celebrate my life, for I've lived free and clear,
No regrets, no debts, no burdens to fear.
...
I wandered through the graveyard's hallowed ground,
Where history's lessons whispered, all around.
A place of rest, where dreams and hopes reside,
Where potential presidents, leaders, and innovators abide.
...
A gun to my head, a fate unsure,
In minutes, I might meet my demise, for sure.
The Grimm Reaper's list, I've made the top,
A desperate soul, with a future that's stopped.

We Made It
WE MADE IT(A POEM WRITTEN BY MKHWANANZI MTHANDAZO)
WE MADE IT MY DEAR FRIENDS
AND NOW THE WHOLE WORLD IS CLAPPING HANDS
EVEN THOUGH THE ODDS WERE AGAINST US.
ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS TO HAVE FAITH IN JESUS.
BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS DEFINED US NIGHT AND DAY.
BUT WE KNEW WE WERE GOING TO MAKE IT ONE DAY.
OUR DREAM WAS TO FLY SO HIGH.
LIKE HOW AN EAGLE SOARS IN THE SKY
'YOU AINT GONNA MAKE IT, THEY SAID'.
BUT WE STILL FOUGHT HARD LIKE BEASTS UNTAMED.
SOMETIMES WE ALMOST FELT LIKE GIVING UP, DUE TO THE FEAR OF LOSING.
BUT WELL, …SOMETHING HAS GOT TO KEEP YOU MOVING.
WE DID WHAT THEY THOUGHT COULDN'T BE DONE, MY DEAR FRIENDS.
AND IN AWE, NOW ALL THEY CAN DO IS TO CLAP HANDS.
MOM ONCE TOLD ME, "IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT IN LIFE, STAY HUMBLE'
'THAT WAY MY SON, YOU WILL NEVER STUMBLE'
"FIGHT HARD SON, FIGHT HARDER SON "SHE SAID.
WELL SAID MOM, WELL SAID.
HER WORDS MADE ME FIGHT HARDER, IN ORDER TO GET PAID.
FAILURE THREW EVERYTHING AT US EACH AND EVERY DAY.
BUT OUR FIGHTING SPIRITS KEPT ON SAYING 'NOT TODAY'.
AND NOW WE STAND AT THE PODIUM, ABOUT TO BE HONORED FOR HAVING DEFIED ALL ODDS.
AND THE HATERS ARE NOW JOTTING DOWN OUR INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES.
EVEN THOUGH SOMETIMES WE GOT INTO TROUBLE, WE ALWAYS HAD EACH OTHER'S BACK,
BECAUSE IN LIFE, SACRIFICIAL FRIENDSHIP IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO MAKE.
TODAY WE ARE NOW LEGENDS IN THE MAKING,
AND SUCCESS IS OURS FOR THE TAKING.
SUCCESS AND HARDWORK STORIES ARE WRITTEN ALL OVER OUR FACES.
CARRYING HEAVY BURDENS ON OUR SHOULDERS, WE STILL GOT TO THE TOP OF THE STAIRCASES.
WE NEVER KNEW TEARS OF JOY,
BUT HARDWORK AND DETERMINATION HAVE BROUGHT FORTH IN OUR LIFE, GREAT JOY.
WITH THE THE TAG OF FAILURE ENGRAVED ALL OVER OUR BEING.
WELL, NOW SUCCESS IS WHAT OUR MOUTHS SING.
STARTING THIS LONG AND TIRESOME JOURNEY AT A DISADVANTAGE COMPARED TO OTHERS.
NOW WE ENJOY SUCCESS, LIKE WE STARTED WITH A GREAT ADVANTAGE OVER OTHERS.
WE MADE IT MY DEAR FRIENDS,
AND NOW THE WHOLE WORLD IS CLAPPING HANDS.
