But you were by my side ev'ry day:
I love you more than you than you can know.

I slept and dreamed a dream tonight,
and in my dream I was walking, walking in the sunlight.
I looked an I saw you sitting beside the stream;
you were bright, like gleaming light, like a sunlight beam;

How am I to describe that feeling,
That a child has laughingly reeling?
Like tweeting birds on a lovely summer day?
Or like sleek otters splashing at play.

In youthful springs, my laughter bloomed in light,
Beneath the budding trees I forged my dreams,
But now with autumn's chill, I face the night,
As tender hope dissolves in silent streams.

The frosted earth, a slumber deep,
Now wakes to whispers, soft and steep.
A gentle rain, a cleansing tear,
Dispels the winter's chilling fear.

To find a country far and fair
