LeeAnn Howard Poems

Another night spent in vain,
Another fight brings only pain.
I'm choking on words to say,
I'm hoping but cannot pray.
...

Ain't everybody here a dreamer?
Trying hard while living on their knees,
Through the cold and burnin' fever
Holding on to their hollow memories.
...

I really cannot write today,
I plumbed the depths of hurt and pain.
Friend, you know I'd like to say
That there's something left to gain,
...

Hello God, are You there?
Can You hear me say your name?
Maybe You don't even care
And we both know I'm to blame.

What It Feels Like When You Lose

Another night spent in vain,
Another fight brings only pain.
I'm choking on words to say,
I'm hoping but cannot pray.
I fell down once again.

I do not dare to close my eyes,
I cannot bare to roll the dice,
Whatever I had I've already lost,
I'm nearly dead, still paying the cost
For I once had you.

Your absence aches but pain I can stand,
My mind breaks and all my senses bend.
I only fear that once I would not feel
The salt tear and wound unable to heal.
I'm going numb tonight.

It ain't the light what I long to see,
And I cannot sight where I want to be.
The world'll keep turning, life will go on,
I will be burning before I'm gone,
Just a fading memory...
